When you miss a call and want more info on who it was

May 26th, 2005

MelissaData has a good free Phone Lookup service which may not tell you who called, but will get down to the county.

They also have a few other lookups that may be of interest, like the Geocoder for finding the geocode of a zip code, or the IPlocation which will provide the location of someone based on their IP address.

The people at Google and google fans are doing some cool things with maps. It is basically a web based map tool (a la mapquest) with a nice interface. You can click the sattelite button to get an up close image of the location like this picture of the pentagon

Someone also created a great application for the tool by combining it with Craigslist house/apartment listings… called HousingMaps, which places listings on a map.

Hello world!

Welcome to erikjaeger.com. I am using Wordpress to publish and Flickr to host pictures. I chose Wordpress because it’s free, supports web standards, has categories, integrates with Flickr, and has a large userbase that create plugins. Flickr is free photo sharing site with lots of cool features like tagging, organizing comments, hosting multiple picture sizes, and easy posting to a blog. Luckily my brother hooked me up with free hosting.

If I wanted to create a blog that’s hosted for free, I’d go with blogger
